Kamloops man charged with firearms offences
KAMLOOPS – A 22-year-old Kamloops man is facing a series of firearms charges after being stopped by police in Barriere Friday night (Feb. 26).
Cameron Jaykob Deakin-Robertson is facing five charges related to possessing a firearm. He is also facing a charge of occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm was present, possessing stolen property and driving while prohibited.
RCMP were alerted to a suspicious vehicle along Kootenay Way in Kamloops around 6:30 that evening. Mounties eventually spotted the vehicle and it was driving along Highway 5. Attempts to stop the vehicle failed.
But a short time later, a member of the Central Interior Traffic Services department spotted the vehicle at a gas station in Barriere. With the support of RCMP officers in Barriere, the suspected was arrested.
