KAMLOOPS — A slow start to the year for the Kamloops construction industry picked up steam in February.

Totals released Tuesday (Mar. 2) by the City of Kamloops Building Inspection Division show $10.5 million in permits were issued last month. That’s nearly identical to the same month in 2020.

The majority of that activity took the form of residential construction, with permits issued for 28 units.

After two months, the construction sector is still lagging behind last year’s record-setting pace. The year-to-date permit value total is $19.1 million, compared to $29.8 million at the same time in 2020.
