Potential demolition derby, weapon seizure and ice cream robbery in Kamloops over weekend

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 313 calls for service from midnight on Friday, Feb. 26 to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 1.

A man was allegedly attempting to run into cars near Highland Park late on Friday.

Police arrested a man after a report of a group of vehicles racing at the park near Linfield Drive. A member of the group told police that the man was driving into them, causing them to swerve as they tried to leave. No damage was done to the vehicles.

An apparent firearm that turned out to be a pellet gun was located inside a tire by frontline officers responding to a report of alleged drug use or sales Saturday morning.

Officers attended the 600-block of Lansdowne Street where a group of three was identified. They were eventually arrested and later released.

The investigation is ongoing.

A man who allegedly stole ice cream bars from a business on Eighth Avenue showed large kitchen knife in his waistband when confronted.

Police were unable to locate the suspect in the robbery on Sunday.

The Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect from an armed robbery Sunday.
