Interior Health declares COVID-19 outbreak at The Florentine in Merritt

KAMLOOPS – Privately operated The Florentine long-term care and assisted-living home in Merritt is the site of a declared COVID-19 outbreak.
In making the declaration, Interior Health says one resident has tested positive. All staff and residents in close contact with the individual are now in self-isolation and are monitoring for symptoms. All residents and staff are being tested.
The facility has 38 assisted living beds and 24 long-term care beds.
To prevent the spread of the virus and protect residents, all visits will be cancelled except in end-of-life circumstances.
