Kamloops RCMP officer punched, kicked during early morning arrest
KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops RCMP officer was likely feeling sore after being punched and kicked by an arrestee early Tuesday morning (Feb. 16).
In a release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says the officer was responding a 9-1-1 call originating from the 600-block of Columbia Street West in which a woman reported she had been assaulted.
Officers attended and found the caller, who was allegedly intoxicated and uncooperative. Another person at the address reported being assaulted.
While speaking with the woman, the officers grew concerned for her well-being due to her level of intoxication and told the woman she was under arrest for being intoxicated in public.
