COVID-19 spread skyrockets to 161 cases in Kamloops last week

KAMLOOPS — The latest totals from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) show the greatest COVID-19 spread yet in the Kamloops area last week.

BCCDC posted the latest case counts broken down by Local Health Area (LHA) late Wednesday (Feb. 10).

They show 161 cases in the Kamloops area for the week of January 31 to February 6. That is up from 117 the previous week.

Spread in the Merritt and Revelstoke areas was also very high.

Spread decreased sharply in the Cariboo/Chilcotin, however, among other areas.

Below are the new case totals for communities surrounding Kamloops:

  • Cariboo/Chilcotin – 28 (down by 44 from last week)
  • North Thompson – 0 (down by 1)
  • 100 Mile House – 3 (down by 3)
  • South Cariboo – 0 (down by 4)
  • Lillooet – 0 (down by 1)
  • Merritt – 30 (up by 6)
  • Vernon – 18 (down by 27)
  • Armstrong-Spallumcheen – 4 (down by 3)
  • Enderby – 3 (down by 4)
  • Salmon Arm — 26 (unchanged)
  • Revelstoke – 19 (up by 7)
  • Central Okanagan-Kelowna — 76 (down by 1)
