Arrest of uninsured driver leads to seizure of cash and drugs at Kamloops motel
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP were able to seize thousands of dollars in cash and drugs yesterday (Feb. 9) following the arrest of an uninsured driver.
In a release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says an officer with the Crime Reduction Unit arrested a man on Tuesday for driving without insurance in the 1500 block of River Street.
The man resisted arrest, but a nearby civilian came to the officer’s aid, which allowed him to handcuff the suspect. A search after the arrest led to the discovery of a quantity of drugs.
Given the high-risk nature of the drug trade, the officer requested the assistance of the Emergency Response Team to keep the area as safe as possible while a search was conducted at a nearby motel.
