KAMLOOPS — The first half of winter may have been relatively mild, but Environment Canada says a cold spell is on its way for the Interior.

Starting today (Feb. 7) a special weather statement is in effect for the South Thompson region, with Arctic air bringing unusually cold temperatures.

The forecaster says the cold air is currently pushing south across BC’s Interior, and towards the west coast through the weekend. The chilled conditions will remain throughout the rest of the week.

Temperatures over Interior regions will be 10 to 20 degrees below the seasonal average. Coastal areas can expect temperatures 5 to 10 degrees below average.
