IH reporting 101 cases in COVID-19 outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital

KAMLOOPS — With seven more cases identified since Friday (Feb. 5), Interior Health says the COVID-19 outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) has grown to 101 cases.

In an emailed statement today (Feb. 6), the health authority says there are 35 patients who have tested positive, and 66 staff. Of these cases, 55 are still considered active. One patient has died in connection to this outbreak.

IH also states that the virus spread has now been contained to unit 6 North, and the outbreak is declared over on 6 South. The hospital remains safe for the public to attend for appointments, or emergencies.

Elsewhere, the COVID-19 outbreak at Westsyde Care Residence group home has grown from Thursday to 24 cases.
