KAMLOOPS — Fire crews and police responded to an accident overnight on highway 5 at the Halston interchange. A car and pickup were believed to be involved, but there are few details so far. It’s not known if weather conditions played a part in the accident.

The call came in about 3:30 AM (Jan 29), but there was some kind of combative incident going on and KFR crews had to wait until the RCMP arrived in order to make the scene safe for them to deal with the accident.

And crews had the rescue boat in the water ,and others searched the shoreline last night (Jan 28) after reports of someone in the river.

About 14 responders combed the riverbank for an hour and a half with flashlights. They were unable to find anything and called off the search around 9:00 PM. RCMP are expected to have more later this morning.
