TRU FOUNDATION GALA

TRU Foundation Gala using online format for student support fundraising

Jan 27, 2021 | 4:39 PM

KAMLOOPS — Like many of the city’s fundraising events, the annual TRU Foundation Gala will be taking the online route this year.

Organizers have partnered with local restaurants and delivery services to fit the “Community Affair” theme. Those who attend the gala next month will have their choice of dinner brought to them by Mitchie’s Delivery and TRU Cheerleaders.

Restaurant partners include Earls Kitchen and Bar, the Noble Pig, Bright Eye Brewing, TRU Culinary Arts, Romeo’s Kitchen and Spirits and the TRU Conference Centre. This meal will also be paired with virtual entertainment and an online silent auction.

TRU’s VP of University Relations Brian Daly says the event aims to raise money for student support bursaries.

“It’s supporting students that want to have a post secondary experience — they want to upgrade their training, they want to polish off a Master’s degree, etc. And if it’s bursary support, it’s someone that can be here, they have the intellectual capacity to succeed but they might just need some financial support. So you buying a gala ticket goes right into that opportunity.”

The Foundation Gala will be held February 6 with ticket sales closing February 1. Tickets start at $65 and can be purchased online at tru.ca/gala.
