New school exposures in Cariboo, Shuswap

WILLIAMS LAKE AND CANOE, B.C. — Schools in the Cariboo and Shuswap are reporting new COVID-19 exposures.

According to the Interior Health school exposure website, a new exposure was found at Lake City Secondary’s Columneetza campus in Williams Lake last week. The affected dates are January 6 and 7.

This becomes the third exposure in a Williams Lake school from last week, and the fourth active listing within the Cariboo-Chilcotin School District.

To the south near Salmon Arm, an exposure has been listed at South Canoe Elementary on January 6, 7 and 8.

This is the second currently-relevant exposure in the North Okanagan-Shuswap district, with one listed at Parkview Elementary in Sicamous on January 6.

In all cases, public health officials are completing contact tracing and will get a hold of those who have had direct contact with the person or people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Those who have not been contacted are encouraged to attend school as normal.
