Fifth alert issued for tainted drugs in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health (IH) has added a fifth drug alert for tainted drugs in Kamloops. The alert comes after four similar messages were fanned out Friday (Jan. 8).

In the fifth alert distributed Wednesday (Jan. 13), IH describes a pink or reddish substance sold as “Down”.

The drug, tested at ASK Wellness, contains caffeine mannitol, fentanyl and benzodiazepines.

Those who take the drug may experience prolonged sedation with a high risk of overdose.
