MALAKWA, B.C. — RCMP in the Shuswap say a woman who died after she was found badly injured on a road in Malakwa was the victim of a hit-and-run homicide.

In a release, RCMP say the 64-year-old woman has been positively identified. She was found at about 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 1., on Luoma Road near the Cedars RV Resort.

Detachment Commander Sgt. Murray McNeil says Sicamous RCMP received support the Southeast District General Investigation Section and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services section in determining the woman was the victim of a hit-and-run.

McNeil says police are renewing their call for information from the public as they try to track down suspects.
