Builders short-listed for Cariboo Memorial hospital project in Williams Lake
WILLIAMS LAKE – A major milestone has been reached in the expansion and renovation project at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake. The provincial government has shortlisted three companies as qualified design-builders.
Bird Design-Build Construction Inc., Graham Design Builders LP, and PCL West Coast Constructors LTD have met the government’s qualifications and are now in possession of a request for proposals (RFP) document. The RFP will have the details required for the builders to submit a final bid for the $217.8 million project.
The construction job will include a three-storey addition and renovations to different areas of the hospital. As well, an inter-faith sacred space will be built to be the centre of traditional, sacred cultural and healing practices. The winning builder will be expected to work with an Aboriginal stakeholder group, Williams Lake area First Nations, Métis and Urban Aboriginal groups for their input on the construction of the sacred space.
“Interior Health is committed to quality patient care for residents of Williams Lake and the Cariboo,” said Health Minister Adrian Dix. “This project is so vitally important to all patients in the entire region and I’m excited that we have reached this significant milestone in the bidding process.”
