WILDLIGHTS 2020

BC Wildlife Park offering virtual Wildlights experience

Dec 23, 2020 | 11:30 AM

KAMLOOPS — The BC Wildlife Park is offering a COVID-friendly way to tour the holiday displays of Wildlights this year.

With current provincial health orders, Wildlights was unable to proceed as an in-person event, so the park made adjustments. Aspect Film Works was brought in to create a video tour of the lit-up park and the film is now available online.

With a minimum donation of $5.00, people can access the 26-minute virtual tour which includes Uncle Chris the Clown, animal encounters, a virtual train ride, a behind-the-scenes look at how Wildlights is set up, a family activity, and the more than 800,000 lights displayed.

In a Facebook post, the BC Wildlife Park says the cancellation of Wildlights means it will lose more than $250,000 in revenue this year. The money would usually carry the park through to spring break and help cover animal feeding costs, operations of the Fawcett Family Wildlife Health Centre and the Burrowing Owl Breeding Program.
