MERRITT, B.C. — Drivers are asked to take extra care on the Coquihalla Tuesday (Dec. 15) as a winter storm warning is in effect for the Hope to Merritt stretch of the highway.

Environment Canada says a total of 20-to-30 cm of snow is expected on the Coquihalla Summit by Wednesday morning (Dec. 16).

The forecaster says a Pacific frontal system moving through southern B.C is expected to bring significant amounts of snowfall and gusty winds to the Hope-to-Merritt section.

Motorists are reminded that weather in the mountains can change suddenly and are asked to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
