Merritt family donates $200k to RIH Patient Care Tower

KAMLOOPS — A Merritt family has donated $200,000 to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation for medical equipment in the new Patient Care Tower.

Frank and Almerina Rizzardo have strong connections to health care; two of their sons are physicians and another is a pharmacist. The donation comes out of an appreciation for the community and the healthcare facilities their family has benefitted from.

“Normally, we would donate and that would be it,” Frank said. “We decided to go public with this donation as we would like to encourage others to donate as well. As a regional hospital, RIH supports a huge area. Donations of any size, from the entire catchment area will go a long way to continued improvement in healthcare at RIH — not only with the new tower, but also with new equipment, training, research, etc. in all areas.”

The Rizzardos are frequent donors to charitable organizations, especially those that support health care in B.C.
