Police watchdog to probe Anahim Lake-area car crash, RCMP response

ANAHIM LAKE, B.C. — B.C.’s police watchdog will look into a bizarre series of events near Anahim Lake earlier this fall.

According to the Independent Investigations Officer, it began October 11 with a single vehicle accident along Highway 20 near Nimpo Lake.

A caller to the RCMP said the driver did not appear injured, and when officers arrived they couldn’t find him.

The next day, RCMP were alerted to the fact that the driver was still missing. Officers found him about 500 metres away from the crash site. An ambulance took him to hospital for treatment.

Thursday of this week (Dec. 4), RCMP were alerted to the fact that the driver sustained serious injuries.
