Kamloops Snow Angels program in need of volunteers

Nov 26, 2020 | 4:24 PM

KAMLOOPS — The Snow Angels program is gearing up for another Kamloops winter.

The program recruits volunteers to shovel the driveways and sidewalks of senior citizens throughout Kamloops. While there is currently very little snow to be shoveled, the service is in need of more volunteers for the season.

“The Snow Angels gears up in November, so we’re just getting started,” said Snow Angels Coordinator Ainsley Tymchyna. “Right now, we have about 50 seniors in need of volunteers. So, about half of what we normally get. We normally get about 100 seniors, half are still looking for volunteers.”

The Snow Angels program tries to match volunteers with seniors who live in the same area. Right now, the greatest need is on the North Shore.

“The easiest way to sign up to be a volunteer is to go to the Volunteer Kamloops website, which is volunteerkamloops.org. You can actually click right on the Snow Angels tab and fill out the application online.”

Anyone requiring assistance from a Snow Angel this winter should call (250) 851-6951.
