KAMLOOPS – A contractor who worked at the Highland Valley Copper mine west of Logan Lake recently, has tested positive for COVID-19.

In an online message to contractors and employees, Teck identifies the individual as a mill maintenance employee. The person worked at the site Monday, November 16.

Teck says initial contact tracing has been completed. No close contacts were identified through the process. However, it is asking all workers to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and take steps to self-isolate if necessary.

It’s believed the individual was exposed to COVID-19 off-site. Nevertheless, Teck says it is continuing to disinfect work areas at the mine.
