Donations adding up for Basics for Babies

KAMLOOPS — Basics for Babies took place Friday morning (Nov. 20), bringing in financial and product donations to support the Kamloops Food Bank.

This year, people were required to drop off their donations at one of three drop-off zones in the city. In addition to baby products, the food bank collected nearly $60,000 in corporate donations.

Kamloops Food Bank Executive Director Bernadette Siracky says the donations will go to stocking the shelves of the Baby Bank and supporting families who are struggling to provide for their young children.

“There can be no bad result or no insignificant result by giving babies what they need, giving them formula so their brains are developing properly, diapers so that every time they need a change they have a fresh diaper,” Siracky said. “How can that have a bad outcome? That impact in our community with these young babies is going to be incredible. So thank you.”
