Winter storm warning issued for Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt
MERRITT — UPDATE – Environment Canada is forecasting up to 40 cm of snow to fall on parts of the Coquilhalla Highway south of Merritt today (Sunday). The snowfall is expected to taper off to flurries in the evening. Meantime a snowfall warning is also in effect for the Fraser Valley and along Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton.
EARLIER – Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for a section of the Coquihalla Highway this weekend.
The forecaster says the Hope to Merritt stretch of the mountain highway can expected 25 to 35 cm of snow starting tonight (Nov. 14) until Sunday evening.
It notes the significant snowfall comes from a Pacific storm passing through the area.
