Nov 4, 2020 | 5:06 PM

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops will soon be looking for a new top dog for Kamloops Fire Rescue.

Chief Mike Adams has announced his retirement, effective February 1, 2021. Adams tells CFJC Today his last day on the job will be Dec. 18, and he will burn several weeks of unused vacation days leading up to his retirement date.

Asst. Chief Steve Robinson will serve as the acting chief until a successor is named.

Adams himself served in the acting chief role upon Dale McLean’s retirement in December, 2016. Adams was officially given the top job in April of the following year.

As for his post-career plans, Adams says he plans to remain in the Kamloops area, spend more time with family and “knock off a few things on (his) to-do list.”
