JEANNIE MAI SHARES UPDATE: DWTS contestant Jeannie Mai is on the road to recovery following a surprise hospitalization. The 41-year-old updated worried fans. “I would never imagine ever having to write this, but I made it safely out of my emergency surgery. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Nasseri who identified my potentially life-threatening condition,” Mai wrote to fans while showing herself lying in a hospital bed. She was diagnosed with epiglottis, which happens when a small piece off cartilage covers the windpipe, blocking airflow into the lungs. (The Blast)
