Wet end to October leads to Cariboo streamflow advisories

Nov 2, 2020 | 11:27 AM

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) has issued a rare fall high streamflow advisory for the Cariboo region.

In the advisory, the BCRFC says heavy precipitation last week is “leading to a prolonged period of unseasonable flows.”

The concerning areas include San Jose River above Borland Creek, which is between a 10- and 20-year flow, and Baker Creek at Quesnel, which reached concerning flow rates on Sunday (Nov. 1).

The advisory notes river levels are expected to remain high throughout the week but are expected to recede from here.
