KAMLOOPS – Kamloops RCMP are investigating after an alleged assault at a bus exchange on the city’s north shore today (Oct. 31).

In a release from Sgt. Jeff Bingley, police say around 1:40 p.m this afternoon they received multiple reports of an assault at the North Shore transit exchange on Tranquille Road.

RCMP say witnesses reported that two men were fighting in the bus loop, and one of the men had a baseball bat. Police arrived on scene within 2 minutes of dispatching and the man holding the bat ran across Tranquille Road into a residential area.

The suspect was eventually apprehended by officers and arrested for assault with a weapon. Police have since seized the bat and are gathering statements from witnesses.
