Trailer crash near Monte Creek causes fuel spill, traffic back-up
MONTE CREEK, B.C. — RCMP are looking into a crash near Monte Creek that caused a potentially dangerous fuel spill.
Chase RCMP say members were called to Highway 97 near Duck Range Road during the noon hour Thursday (Oct. 29).
A flatbed trailer hauling a fuel tank filled with diesel fuel had separated from the truck towing it through a corner. The trailer overturned and fully blocked the southbound lane of the highway.
Some of the diesel leaked onto the highway after the crash, and the area was reduced to single-lane alternating traffic as crews worked to prevent further spillage and removed debris.
