RCMP believe weekend business fire near Barriere may have been arson
BARRIERE, B.C. — RCMP in Barriere say a fire over the weekend may have been deliberately set.
The fire was reported early Saturday morning (Sept. 26) at a business on Agate Bay Road south of Barriere.
According to an RCMP news release, there were no injuries but there was significant damage to both a commercial building and several pieces of heavy machinery that were situated on site.
“Investigators now have reason to believe the blaze may have been an arson, due to findings at the scene,” said Barriere RCMP detachment commander Cpl. Robert Welsman in the release.
