ROONEY MARA WELCOMES BABY WITH JOAQUIN PHOENIX: Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix have welcomed their first child. Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky broke the news during a Q&A Sunday at the Zurich Film Festival, following a screening of the Phoenix-produced Gunda. He said: “He just got a baby, by the way, his name was … a beautiful son called River, so he cannot promote it now.” Their son was named after Phoenix’s later brother, River, who died of an overdose at 23. JULIANNE HOUGH AND BROOKS LAICH TO MAKE THINGS WORK? Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich have separated, but they aren’t ready to call things quits. “Julianne and Brooks both want to try to make things work,” a source tells ET. “Friends closest to them see this time as very positive.” They announced their split in May. The Politician star posted a playful shot on social media, writing: “Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes and thank you to @goop’s insanely amazing brand new body butter for making me think I can still get my kit off.” Her husband Brad Falchuk also wished her well, posting: “This badass is 48 today.
