ADAMS LAKE, B.C. — An RCMP spokesman is offering more details about a tense police incident in the Adams Lake area Friday (Sept. 18).

At the time, RCMP said a police incident required the attendance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and ended with one suspect in custody.

In a news release today, Southeast District spokesman Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says the person in custody is Michael Luttman, a wanted man who police believed was hiding in rural areas around Chase.

On Friday at about 11:30 a.m., ERT officers assisted by a team aboard the RCMP helicopter descended on a property near Adams Lake to arrest Luttman.

A pickup truck leaving the property did not stop for officers and collided with an ERT vehicle on Holding Road.

After the crash, a woman who was a passenger was apprehended and taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

At about 12:15, officers arrested Luttman from the vehicle. He was taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained in the crash.

O’Donaghey says Mounties seized a loaded handgun from the vehicle and recovered several high powered guns and “countless rounds of ammunition” that had been ejected from the truck in the crash.

One ERT member was taken to hospital as a precaution and later released.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not spoken to police is asked to call Chase RCMP at (250) 679-3221.
