VANCOUVER — After starting in the Lower Mainland, ride-hailing giant Uber is announcing plans to fan out throughout B.C.

In an application made to B.C.’s Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) Wednesday (Sept. 9), the company says it wants to serve all five designated regions in the province.

It would start by offering rides in Kelowna and Victoria, with unspecified plans to spread out further from there.

Uber began operating in the Lower Mainland in January after expressing displeasure at B.C.’s requirement that drivers carry Class 4 licenses.
