Wildfire activity relatively quiet over holiday long weekend
KAMLOOPS – The B.C. Wildfire Service is responding to a pair of new fires in the Kamloops Fire Centre Sunday.
A wildfire, thought to be caused by human activity, is burning along Green Mountain Road east of Princeton. It’s about 1.5 hectares and is considered to be burning out of control.
The Riley Creek fire near Lillooet is under a hectare in size. It’s burning along the eastern edge of the Fraser River. It’s not clear how that fire began.
Across B.C. five wildfires have begun over the weekend and overall, there are 32 active wildfires. The majority of the fires are located in the southeastern region.
