Kamloops and District Labour Council moves annual Labour Day picnic online due to COVID-19
KAMLOOPS — It’s an annual tradition that usually takes place on Labour Day. Unfortunately, the Kamloops and District Labour Council made the tough decision to cancel their annual Labour Day Picnic, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lois Rugg, President of the Labour Council, says despite cancelling the in-person event, there will be a virtual version of the picnic. She says the online event will include games, trivia and activities. There are also some prizes provided by the council.
“We’ve got some fun trivia contests and scavenger hunts people can do from or their home, or get into the community and safely learn about their community,” Rugg explains. “They can enter for some prizes. The Labour Council has purchased prizes from various businesses in order to help the local economy, smaller businesses, that sort of thing.”
