MERRITT – 20 rooms are now available to support people who are homeless in Merritt. A temporary expansion shelter has been opened at 2350 Voght Street.

The expansion was developed through a partnership between BC Housing, the City of Merritt and the Nicola Valley Shelter and Support Society (NVSSS).

The facility will allow residents to safely distance themselves. A drop-in hygiene centre will also provide people with a space to shower. The centre will also have a separate entrance, away from attached businesses.

It will be staffed 24 hours for the safety and security of everyone using the facility. Daily meals, laundry and cleaning services will also be available through the efforts of NVSSS.
