KAMLOOPS — PREVIOUS: Interior Health has confirmed that a hospital lock down has been declared over, and Royal Inland Hospital has been given the all-clear by Kamloops RCMP.

In a statement from Interior Health communications, IH says the incident involved a bomb threat that was determined to be a false alarm after a police investigation and search of the area.

“The response by our staff to this incident was excellent and, fortunately, the situation was resolved quickly,” the release states, “Thank you as well to our patients, visitors and families for their co-operation in avoiding the hospital during this time and allowing the police to do their work.”

RCMP are investigating a potential bomb threat at Royal Inland Hospital Tuesday afternoon (August 25).

Interior Health says it can confirm that the hospital has declared a Code Black, which is a potential bomb, and a police investigation is underway.

Royal Inland Hospital is currently locked down, and IH notes that the public is asked not to visit the hospital at this time unless they need emergency care.

Interior Health communications adds that they have staff on hand who are trained to respond to the situation and protect healthcare workers, patients and families who are inside the building.
