BC Wildfire Service responding to grassfire south of Merritt

MERRITT — A small grassfire has sparked about four kilometres southeast of Merritt.

The Fox Farm Road fire is estimated to be one hectare and is visible from the Coquihalla Highway.

DriveBC is reporting a lane closure south of Merritt as BC Wildfire Crews tend to the blaze. Drivers should expect delays.

Fire Information Officer Kyla Fraser says the fire is not currently threatening any structures.

“We do have one airtanker and a helicopter that are responding,” she said, “and we have an initial attack crew, which is three firefighters, enroute to the scene.”
