KAMLOOPS — There is activity around the Canadian Forces’ fleet of Snowbird jets grounded at Kamloops Airport, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are preparing for takeoff just yet.

The fleet of seven Tutor jets is based in Canadian Forces Base Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, but has been grounded in Kamloops since a tragic crash in Brocklehurst on May 17. The incident resulted in the death of Capt. Jennifer Casey.

Royal Canadian Air Forces investigators believe a bird strike may have led to the crash, though they have yet to file their final report.

In an email to CFJC Today, 431 Air Demonstration Squadron Public Affairs Officer Lieutenant Becky Major says a team of aircraft technicians has now arrived in Kamloops to perform maintenance on the aircraft.
