Ten-hectare wildfire ignites near Lillooet

LILLOOET, B.C. — Wildfire crews are fighting a suspected human-caused fire near Lillooet.

According to the B.C. Wildfire Service, the Laluwissin Creek fire is burning about 28 kilometres southeast of Lillooet and can be seen from both Highway 12 and the village itself.

Twenty-two firefighters are battling the 10-hectare blaze.

The Wildfire Service describes it as a “smouldering ground fire” and it did not grow overnight.
