ENDERBY, B.C. — A homicide investigation is underway after the death of a North Okanagan man.

Last Tuesday (Aug. 11) around 5 p.m., North Okanagan Rural RCMP was notified by hospital officials of a man in critical condition, after being transported to hospital for medical care earlier that morning from a property along George Street in Enderby.

Due to the nature and extent of the victim’s injuries, the North Okanagan Rural RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) engaged the Southeast District Major Crime Unit (MCU) to assist in the developing investigation.

A location in Enderby was secured by police and forensic specialists were brought in to conduct an examination of the crime scene. GIS and major crime investigators canvassed area residents for any information.

On Friday (Aug. 14) shortly before midnight, the victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital. As such, the Major Crime Unit assumed conduct of the homicide investigation, which is believed to be an isolated event.

In order to further the investigation and establish a timeline prior to his death, police are confirming the victim’s identity as 46-year-old Dana Andrew Prevost of Enderby.

The BC Coroners Service has also been notified and has launched an independent investigation into the man’s death.

Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact the RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit at 1-877-987-8477. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
