KAMLOOPS — August 6th to 16th is BC Cider Week, an annual event put on by the Northwest Cider Association meant to celebrate BC Cider producers. Here in Kamloops, our local cider is getting into the spirit of cider week.

Woodward Cider Company has extended its hours this week to help celebrate the event. They’re also offering free samples of their ciders to visitors as part of BC Cider Week celebrations.

“For BC Cider Week running from [August] 6th to the 16th, we’re currently offering free tastings.” Operations Manager Adam Woodward explains. “You’re welcome to come on out, and we can provide you with a splash of each one of our ciders on the house.”

Woodward Cider Company has been up and running for a little over a year now. Woodward says the BC Cider making community is welcoming, as they had some help when they were first opening up. In turn, they’ve been able to help other up and coming cider makers, which has helped the Cider industry grow over the past several years.

“For us, and I think most of the other cideries, it’s about working together. That’s how we got into it,” Woodward says. “We got lots of help from BX Press in Vernon, and Left Field Cider Co. so they’ve been very great to work with. Just recently, we’ve had a couple of startups come to us and look for insight into cider. As a whole, the cider industry in BC is booming. It’s come a long way, and I like to say it follows the craft beer trend.”

Woodward Cider Company recently won Double Gold in the Cider category of the All Canadian Wine Champions for their “Hang Time” peach-infused cider.
