WILLIAMS LAKE – The Cariboo Fire Centre is banning fireworks and all fires, other than a campfire, heading into the BC Day long weekend. Effective Friday (July 31) at noon, category 2 and category 3 fires will be outlawed.
Campfires will be allowed if they are small, only a half metre high and a half metre wide. Cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes will be allowed. However fireworks, burning barrels, and slash burns will not be allowed.
The bans will apply to all public and private land within the Cariboo Fire Centre jurisdiction and will remain in place until the end of September.
