KAMLOOPS — Brock Outdoor Pool and the city’s spray parks have been popular since reopening to the public.

The reopening of these facilities was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brock Pool opened for public swimming last Wednesday (July 8) and Aquatics Program Supervisor Andrew Smeaton says the pool has been at capacity most days.

“If they don’t make it in the first wave of people say, ‘Okay, just to let you know, there’ll be more space in about an hour,’ and people have been really appreciative about that and have been able to come back and use the space when there’s room,” Smeaton said.

The pool can accommodate 56 people with COVID-19 protocols in place. The pool has also been reaching capacity at its Aquafit classes.

The city’s splash pads and the wading pool at Prince Charles Park have also been well used.

“The nice thing about the splash pads is that the features are so spread out that we can still allow similar numbers of people on those spaces,” Smeaton said. “The wading pool at Prince Charles Park and here at Brock Pool, we would usually be allowed to have almost four times the capacity.”
