Downpours on the way for South Thompson region

KAMLOOPS — The June rainfall will continue in Kamloops this weekend, according to Environment Canada.

A special weather statement is in effect for the South Thompson, with heavy downpours expected today (June 27).

* Updated (12:00 p.m): Environment Canada has now issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the South Thompson. The forecast says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain.

The forecast says the airmass will become unstable this afternoon, as an upper low pressure system moves in from the north. Thunderstorms are likely to develop, and bring 10 to 15 mm of rainfall.
