KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say they will never demand payment to make an arrest warrant go away. That’s one way to tell the scammer calling you is not a police officer.

According to spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie, someone has been calling local residents with the caller I.D. displaying “250-828-3000”. That is the main number for the Kamloops RCMP detachment.

Shelkie says the caller demands payment in the form of gift cards. She says the RCMP don’t demand payment of any kind over the phone.

Shelkie asks local residents to alert their family members about the scam.
