KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue crews quickly responded to a semi-truck fire this morning (June 7) on the Coquihalla Highway.

KFR Platoon Captain Shawn Davidson says crews were called to the area near the Inks Lake turnoff for an engine fire of a truck that was hauling diesel.

Photos, and videos of the scene show the cab of a tanker truck being hosed down by firefighters, with two lanes of the highway blocked on a section near Inks Lake.

Davidson says firefighters made short work of the incident, extinguishing the fire within 15-20 minutes.

“We had two engines response and a tender for extra water. It was able to be put out with one engine crew with one tank of water – that was basically all that was required,” he says, “It was a quick knock down, crews did a really good job.”
