KAMLOOPS — The B.C Wildfire Service says a small wildfire that popped up Saturday (May 30) near the Buse Lake area is now under control.

Kamloops Fire Centre Information Officer Kyla Fraser says an initial attack crew was sent to the area, and finished containing the fire last night.

“The fire is now classified as under control. So it stayed relatively small in size, and at this point it is suspected to be lightning caused, but we don’t have a confirmed cause yet.”

Fraser says they were aware of the storm passing through the area, so they did anticipate some lightning strikes to occur.
