BC SPCA fundraiser moves online

KAMLOOPS — The BC SPCA is hoping to raise money for animals in need through its Lock-In for Love fundraiser.

Because of COVID-19, the fundraiser has moved online.

In the past, participants have been locked up in dog kennels or in makeshift jail cells as they raise money for their release.

This year, the SPCA is asking people to simply raise money from the comfort of their own homes.

“We are seeing quite a substantial need to support the animals that are going to be coming in to us, have been coming in to us, and we see possibly increasing in the future due to the pandemic, flooding and possible future wildfires,” said Community Engagement Manager Hayley Bennett. “We’re just going to be prepared and find opportunities to fundraise. This is an opportunity to do so from May 13th to June 13th.”

Participants can register for the fundraiser online.
