Teen recovering in hospital after nearly drowning in North Thompson

KAMLOOPS – A 15-year-old girl is recovering in hospital after collapsing in the North Thompson river Friday evening.

RCMP say the girl was rushed to Royal Inland Hospital shortly after 8:00 pm Friday (May 8^th) evening. Witnesses said the girl walked out into the river and collapsed without warning. Friends pulled her from the water and immediately began first-aid. The incident occurred in the Heffley Creek area.

The teen was listed in critical condition when she arrived in hospital, but her condition improved over the weekend.

RCMP say there are indications that alcohol was a factor.
