PARKS & REC RETURNS: Parks and Recreation is returning to NBC for a special April 30th benefit for Feeding America. The show Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe and Jim O’Heir are returning. The special will raise funds for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, with State Farm and Subaru each making matching donations of $150,000, with NBC, cast and producers also contributing.
FLORENCE PUGH, SHIA LABEOUF, CHRIS PINE SET FOR DON’T WORRY DARLING: Florence Pugh, Shia LaBeouf and Chris Pine are set to star in Don’t Worry Darling, a psychological thriller Olivia Wilde is directing for New Line. Wilde will also star in the film, which is set in an isolated community with utopian aspirations in 1950s California.
PENNY DREADFUL PREMIERE RELEASED EARLY: Showtime has released the series premiere of its new drama Penny Dreadful: City of Angels early for free online sampling ahead of its April 26 on-air debut. It’s available now on YouTube and SHO.com. Penny Dreadful follows the story of a grisly murder in 1938 L.A., and the epic history and story it unveils.
BARBARA KOPPLE DOC SNAPPED UP: Greenwich Entertainment has snagged the North American rights for Barbara Kopple‘s documentary, Desert One. The documentary is headed for release on the History Channel, exact date TBD; it follows the story of Operation Eagle Claw in 1980, when the U.S. military rescued 52 people taken during the Iran Revolution.
